Rule 18-Consider your press photo

*Make sure your press photo has a light background, is very simple and is suitable for print media. 300 dpi high res jpegs work best for newspapers and magazines.

A great band photo has the ability to drive potential media exposure. A great photo attracts the eye.  An official band photo should be fairly simple, with a light background. Live shots are great but live shots are usually captured in the dark. Make sure the band is visible against a stage curtain or wall.  It’s great to have a printable live shot, a still black and white, a color photo and maybe a personality photo  that captures the band’s fun side.

A photo should have artistic elements but not be so enhanced it becomes unusable. Consider hiring a professional photographer or a photography student from the local college. They would be inexpensive and would welcome the experience and photo credits.
