November 27-Thanksgiving Treasure
We can only be said to be alive in those moments when our hearts are conscious of our treasures. ~Thornton Wilder
Consciousness is a matter of daily focus. We can breeze through the day, noticing nothing at all and wonder, at the end of it, why our lives seem so lacking. We can mindlessly work, carelessly spend and ignore our dreams and discover ourselves caught in a dull, dreary routine of meaningless chores and insurmountable debt.
A wake up call from this gauzy existence often comes by way of a health issue, the sudden passing of a loved one or a life emergency such as loss of a job, income, or other stabilizing influence. It’s then we recompense, realign and redefine our use of life energy. Often, a tragic wake up call is the only alarm we pay attention to.
Consciousness means wakefulness and awareness of the environment and our place in it. Each one of us perceives the world through our senses. Your perception differs from mine concerning the very same sets of circumstances. Consciousness denotes a positive, interactive ability to experience life in all its dimensions.
Be awake to the treasures of your life. You are a musician. There is no denying you are a conduit in an expression of spirit. Treasure friends, family, bandmates, support personnel. Understand you may know diamonds in the rough who simply need a kind word or a bit of encouragement. Consciously process the treasure that is your life and profession.
