January 07-The Musician Treasure Map Part 2
“The pleasure of the soul appears to be found in the journey of discovery, the unfolding revelation of expanded insight and experience…”- anthony lawlor
Process: Start with a few magazines and catalogs. Steer away from newspapers and news related publications as what you are trying to achieve should be fun and lighthearted. Magazines are readily available for twenty five to fifty cents at thrift marts. Create a relaxing environment, maybe a candle or two and some nice music. Begin skimming the magazines for images that resonate with you and clip away. DON’T think too much- this is not a graded art project. Clip pleasing images, landscapes, anything you want and paste them to a page in your Book of Secrets or to a poster board. In my own personal Book of Secrets, i have pages dedicated to certain aspects of my life; places i’d like to visit, what i’d like to see from my office window, colors I find appealing. To add another layer of dreamery to the project use a cd jewel case and design your own packaging, including a photo of you on the cover of your new project. Start to create a pathway to invincibility as you feel better about yourself and your path. Remember this is not a project of wishes but rather of possibilities. And it is wise to just let the project unfold without getting attached to outcome. In other words, it should be FUN.
Think of a treasure map as a visible sign of aim, purpose and planning. Relax into the project and discover things about yourself and your path that you never knew before. Consult your treasure map often, particularly in times of uncertainty or stress. It’s a wonderful motivational tool and serves as a constant reminder to stay on your path and aligned with your divine purpose as a musician.
