January 12-Defining yourself…
When you judge another, you do not define them, you define yourself.” – Wayne Dye
Pretend you look up yourself in the dictionary or wikipedia. What words would define you? When I’m having trouble figuring things out, understanding the world and my place in it, I pretend to look myself up in the dictionary or wikipedia. What would I find there? Would I see the photo of a worried and stressed woman, or the picture of a peaceful person, content to let life (and that includes work) unfold as it should?
When we start to judge ourselves, we develop a hyper-critical nature. It’s not just what is wrong with US it’s what is wrong with YOU making US not like ourselves. We begin to look at the outside forces which affect us and make us unhappy instead of remembering our true nature, our complete self, is only found inside our own fragile outer shell.
Define yourself. For each negative trait you feel you exhibit, write the opposite beside it. Then erase your negative traits. Understand how you feel about you is the only thing that matters. Start feeling better about yourself and others will feel better about you.
“You are a child of the universe….” Allow yourself to unfold.
