Publicity and Promotion: Contracts

A word about contracts. Don’t be discouraged if the buyer doesn’t require a contract or doesn’t want to sign one. This is a road you will simply learn to navigate. Because you’ve covered all your bases by using the procedures in this booklet, it’s unlikely the buyer will not hold up his end of the bargain if you hold up yours. A band contract rarely has legs in a dispute. It’s best to check out the venue’s contract policy and discuss this up front. Ask the buyer if she requires a contract and see where the conversation goes.

A contract IS NOT AN ADVANCE.  An advance document lists all details of a performance. EACH SHOW should have an advance sheet associated with it.
