Musicians and Money- Paying bills with an attitude of gratitude
Paying bills is not fun. It’s not easy. It’s not a delightful part of the work week.
Or is it?
Paying bills with an attitude of gratitude can change the dynamic energy whirling around the process.
When you sit to pay your bills, whether online or with a physical checkbook – do so grateful that you have the ability to pay your debts. Instead of wincing over the rent, be grateful you have a place to live. If you cringe at the cell phone bill, be thankful you have the ability to communicate with friends and loved ones from nearly anywhere. If you’re making a car payment, thank the gods in heaven you have transportation. It would be indeed tough to haul guitar gear on a bicycle. If a particular debt (mine is credit cards) just gets to you, get over it- or work to change it.
If there is an issue with a bill you cannot pay,be brave enough to make a phone call. Most creditors are more than happy to work with you IF YOU WILL JUST COMMUNICATE with them. Particularly in this economy.
Paying bills is a little easier if you have a particular day and time set aside to complete the task. Light a candle, incense or listen to music as you work. Pray before you begin. Ask for divine guidance as you sort through this task and do so with the knowledge divinity is in your corner.
Pay bills with a grateful heart and a calm spirit. It makes all the difference in the world.
