Musicians and Health- spiritual energy
To create music is spiritual energy in action. No matter where you imagine inspiration has its origins, it is of a divine and mysterious source.
Health encompasses more than muscle tone, stamina and natural defense systems. Spiritual energy should be recognized as a valid part of overall health.
Musicians are subjected to much darkenss as they tour and perform. Most of our time is spent traveling to one place or another. We arrive in a city for a show as the sun is going down. Our “work day” starts around 7:00pm as we load in, sound check, have dinner and prepare to play. Our work environment involves alcohol, volume and low frequency energies. Often our work day ends around 3:00-4:00am. These hours are not normal to the body’s natural rhythm.
Try starting your day with a quiet moment to reflect and be grateful for the gift of music in your life. Physically start a journal and make time to contribute to it each day. Meditate or pray if you are so inclined.
Making room for the spiritual only takes a tiny sliver of time and a willing heart.
