Intrepid Artists International celebrates 20th Anniversary
Rick Booth is the President and founder of Intrepid Artists Int’l. Booth is a native of Charlotte, born February 7, 1965 at Presbyterian Hospital. He is a graduate of Charlotte Latin High School and earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology at Wofford College in 1987 and has been an active member in the Charlotte Community ever since. Over the years, Booth has represented the likes of Dickey Betts, Walter Trout, Leon Russell, Jimmy Thackery, Joe Louis Walker, Tab Benoit, Bobby Blue Bland, The Blue Dogs, Simplified and countless other Blues and Roots Rock musicians.
The music business is rife with agencies that pop up and disappear in the blink of an eye. The world of booking original, live music is an art and science and must be approached with passion and perseverance. It’s not for the fainthearted or frightened. Rick Booth knows this and has approached his corner of the music business with integrity and honesty. He’s a connoisseur of music and has made it his life’s work to put musicians in front of audiences world wide. He’s taken his passion for live music and a dedication to artists and talent buyers and parlayed it into one of the most prestigious, internationally recognized booking agencies in the world. In a business that is often marred by unethical behavior and downright greed, Rick remains a stalwart leader of a team of professionals who respect and believe in their award winning artists as well as the buyers who keep them busy.
“I believe in cultivating relationships,” says Booth from his office overlooking the beautiful skyline of Uptown Charlotte, NC. “I’ve always wanted Intrepid Artists to be thought of with honesty and integrity. When we make a commitment to an artist , we take care of them. When we make an arrangement with a talent buyer, we value that arrangement and relationship. It really is all about treating people right. “I am not that religious but I firmly believe in doing unto others as you would have them do unto you, You know, treat others the way you would like to be treated. Respect is not something that is given to you. You earn it. So many people just don’t seem to get that these days.”
“You must also surround yourself with good people and allow them to do their jobs. I could not do it all by myself. I have a great staff and most grateful for all of their hard work!”
Intrepid was voted Best Agency by The Blues Foundation in 1997 and 2011. Blues Wax Magazine has cited them as The Best in the Biz. American Blues Scene says,”“ Intrepid Artists may have more class than any other agency and in the meantime provides some of the best music being made to a worldwide audience.”
The event will take place Saturday February 7 at The Neighborhood Theatre and celebrates 20 years of Intrepid Artists history and will feature live music by multiple national and regional Acts and Artists. The event has a limited number of tickets and is open to the public.
